Want to get involved with Summerfest but not sure where to start? You’ve come to the right place. A great Summerfest event is only possible due to the countless number of volunteers and their commitment to an outstanding event. If’ you’d like to be a part of the excitement, we welcome your involvement. Below are numerous volunteer opportunities that may be a good fit for you. Look them over and email us with the areas of interest and we’ll try to match you up with an opportunity that fits your preferences.

Open Committee slots

Event theme – This new committee is responsible for establishing a process for developing and selecting an event theme that will cascade throughout all Summerfest activities. 2-4 volunteers are needed for this committee.

Parade committee – A committee chair and volunteers are needed to establish processes for applications, appropriateness of floats, judging, etc. This committee will be the liaison with the Ankeny Rotary club, who coordinates the event on parade day. 4-5 members are needed for this committee.

Events Chair & committee – This committee is responsible for coordinating all events that occur during Summerfest, including approving new events and their proposed schedule. They will act as the liaison between the events themselves and the Summerfest implementation team. 2-3 volunteers are needed for this team.

Wine festival – this event needs a committee chair and members to organize and coordinate the wine festival. 3-5 volunteers are needed for this team.

Talent show committee – event chair and committee members are needed to organize and manage the talent show. 3-5 volunteers are needed for this team.

Grounds committee – this team of people is responsible for water and electricity for the vendors, fencing, placement of tents, and trash removal. 4-5 volunteers are needed for this team.

Lights committee – responsible for the placement, raising, lowering, turning lights on and off at the appropriate times. 3-4 volunteers are needed for this team.
